Step 1: Grab the Ball
Pick the ball up, and place your middle finger on top of the white laces on the side of the football. Make sure that your thumb is wrapped around the ball and gripped tightly.
Step 2: Take Position and Grab the Ball with Both Your Hands
Once you have grabbed onto the ball properly, lift it closer towards your face. Make sure you place both your hands on the ball, and it is near your chest level just underneath your chin.
Step 3: Get the Stance Right
This is one of the most important steps in this process. Getting the stance right is key. A good stance is the source of a footballer’s power. Start by spreading both your legs and lift the ball up higher closer towards your face. Maintain the grip and make sure the ball is lifted slightly above your neck level.
Step 4: Begin to Throw
Now let's get ready to throw that ball. To do so, begin by lifting the ball a bit higher than before. Preferably lift the ball up to your ear level. Make sure you are still gripping onto the ball tightly and have your stance just right. It helps if you hunch your back during this process.
After which you will want to take a few steps back while dropping the ball down to your chest level. Then continue on by taking your non-ball throwing hand off the ball.
Step 5: Move Your Feet
While in the momentum, after you have taken your feet back a few steps earlier on, plant your dominant feet a step forward on the ground. This momentum will lead you onto throwing the ball. Make sure to be very careful with your feet work.
Step 6: Begin the Release
This is the point where you will want to raise the ball a bit higher. If your footwork is just right, then this should be a piece of cake. The momentum will lead you as will release your throwing arm forward and let go of the ball.
If you can complete up to step six without any hassle, for an added challenge, you can try to do a finger roll. Simply roll your fingers, curling them right in between the moment of release. This will create a spin, making the ball move further and faster with ease.
And, lo and behold, you have done it! If you have followed our step-by-step process, then congratulations, you have mastered the art of throwing a ball. Try to make the process smoother and more fluid, and always remember to have fun when out on the field!
